Autumn is here and the leaves will soon start falling. As they have to be removed from most areas of the garden, maximize the return for your efforts and turn them into leaf mould – garden treasure!
Leaf mould makes a great mulch, soil improver and ingredient for home made potting mixes. It can even give a hedgehog a home, and it’s easy to make because it thrives on neglect.
Leaf mould is a valuable addition to any organic garden. To learn more about organic gardening, check out the Encyclopedia of Organic Gardening from the HDRA (Garden Organic). The US version is published by Rodale.
